Participate in Job Fair

On March 25, 2009, the Cumulus Westchester County SEU participated in the SUNY Purchase College Job Fair on campus in Purchase, New York.  The SEU’s Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant attended this event and met with numerous students to talk about careers in broadcasting as well as internships and employment opportunities within the SEU.

Host Job Fair

On June 23, 2009, this SEU hosted a Cumulus Media Job Fair at The Westchester in White Plains, New York.  Our SEU solicited local employers to participate in this event and promoted this Job Fair over the air on its Stations.  The SEU also participated, meeting with numerous attendees and providing them with information about careers in broadcasting as well as job opportunities and internships within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Promotions Director, Promotions Assistant and Program Director.

On July 15, 2009, this SEU participated in the College of Westchester Job & Internship Fair in White Plains, New York.  The SEU’s Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant attended this event and met with attendees to talk about careers in broadcasting as well as internships and employment opportunities within the SEU.

Participate in event/program sponsored by or on behalf of an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

On October 13, 2009, this SEU participated in the St. Thomas Aquinas Fall Job Fair at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York.  The SEU’s Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant attended this event and met with attendees to talk about careers in broadcasting as well as employment opportunities and internships within the SEU.

On November 10, 2009, this SEU participated in the Pace Career Conference at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York.  The SEU’s Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant attended this event and met with attendees to talk about careers in broadcasting as well as employment opportunities and internships within the SEU.

Internship Program

Openings for internships with the Cumulus-Westchester County SEU are advertised over the air on all SEU stations as well as on numerous college websites and job boards.  The Cumulus-Westchester County SEU is part of the NACElink Network at https://central.nacelink.com/

 

The SEU’s Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant are in contact with Westchester Community College, SUNY College at Purchase, Fordham University, Manhattanville College, Pace University, St. Thomas Aquinas College, College of Westchester, Mercy College, Monroe College, Dominican College, Iona College and their internship representatives on a regular basis and work hard to develop these relationships for the benefit of the students as well as the SEU’s internship program.

 

During the Spring of 2009 (1/2009-5/2009) the Cumulus-Westchester County SEU hosted 11 interns from Pace University, SUNY College at Purchase, SUNY New Paltz, Emerson College and Westchester Community College.

 

Beginning in May 2009, this SEU participated in a Senior Options Program and hosted 4 interns from Irvington High School, Byram Hills High School, Dobbs Ferry High School and Ardsley High School.  Students in the program are mandated to join a workplace for six weeks in place of regular studies to gain experience in a working environment.

 

During the Summer of 2009 (6/2009-8/2009) this SEU hosted 13 interns from Quinnipiac College, Ithaca College, Curry College, Iona College, Manhattan College, University of Tampa, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Syracuse University, Emerson College and University at Albany.

 

During the Fall of 2009 (9/2009-12/2009) this SEU hosted 5 interns from Iona College, Westchester Community College, Monmouth University and Mercy College.

 

All interns are required to work two days per week and participate in an Intern Workshop conducted at the WFAS(AM)/WFAS-FM offices.  Interns work in the Marketing & Promotions Department as well as Programming, Traffic and Production Departments under the supervision of the Promotions Director and Promotions Assistant.  Typical duties include collection of marketing data and participation in remotes, appearances and various promotional events.

Management-level training regarding equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination

On February 5, 2009, this SEU’s Market and Business Managers attended a telephonic training session presented by Cumulus’ outside communications counsel regarding compliance with the FCC’s EEO rules.
